I was watching 60 minutes the other night where they were talking about people with college educations that had lost their jobs. Now, 2 years later their unemployment checks have run out and they have found no job. Now, they were wondering after losing their home, and living in their car, how were they going to feed their children. This may not be a reality in your world. But, I do remember during the snowstorms when the delivery trucks could not get to the stores. During the hurricane winds, that we had no electricity for days. Things began to look grim. I actually used pool water to boil to wash dishes. With all of this in mind, maybe it is important to have food stored, that is usable without extra supplies besides water. This company talks about gourmet food that has a shelf life of 15 years. I know my son-in-law talks about there could come a time, when we will have trouble finding decent food. Good healthy food is something we want for our children. Food may actually become a bargaining commodity. The basic needs Food and Shelter become very important if you do not have them. In the United States alone 12 million children go to bed hungry every night, so to them food is all they think about. Then, we have all these scares about imported food, infected food etc. Maybe we need to wake up and take a look at a new alternative.

You may wonder if you have symptoms of flu or cold!!! In case you haven't seen this: In light of the concerns over H1N1 Flu, I thought this chart from a friend whose hospital put it out to their employees was beneficial. Symptom Cold Swine Flu Fever Fever is rare with a cold. Fever is usually present with the flu in up to 80% of all flu cases. A temperature of 100°F or higher for 3 to 4 days is associated with the flu. Coughing A hacking, productive (mucus- producing) cough is often present with a cold. A nonproductive (non-mucus producing) cough is usually present with the flu (sometimes referred to asdry cough). Aches Slight body aches and pains can be part of a cold. Severe aches and pains are common with the flu. Stuffy Nose Stuffy nose is commonly present with a cold and typically resolves spontaneously within a week. Stuffy nose is not commonly present with the flu. Chills Chills are uncommon with a cold. 60% of people who have the flu experience chills. Tiredness Tiredness is fairly mild with a cold. Tiredness is moderate to severe with the flu. Sneezing Sneezing is commonly present with a cold. Sneezing is not common with the flu. Sudden Symptoms Cold symptoms tend to develop over a few days. The flu has a rapid onset within 3-6 hours. The flu hits hard and includes sudden symptoms like high fever, aches and pains. Headache A headache is fairly uncommon with a cold. A headache is very common with the flu, present in 80% of flu cases. Sore Throat Sore throat is commonly present with a cold. Sore throat is not commonly present with the flu.. Chest Discomfort Chest discomfort is mild to moderate with a cold. Chest discomfort is often severe with the flu.

"Knowing Your Body",Why is this important? Well, each of you are unique and who would know what's happening in your body better than YOU? On April 18th, 2009, I attended a seminar on "Medical Intuition" by Dr. Norm Shealy. The first step he used was a process to getting to know your body that I want to share with you. 1. Sit quietly in a chair with your feet flat on the floor. 2. Close your eyes 3. Breath deeply drawing your breath in through your nose slowly and out through your mouth. ( I like to have my clients breath in 4 counts, blow out 7 counts.) 4. Do this breathing until you are totally relaxed. (Give your mind time to clear from the daily thoughts.) 5. Start from the top of your head. 6. Ask your body, how does my head feel? How do my eyes,ears, mouth, throat etc.? Moving steadily down until you reach your toes. 7. Does it feel good or is there something you can identify that isn't quite right. Make a note in your mind what that is. 8. After completing this exercise, you will know more about your body and those are the areas you need to start the healing process. 9. Make notes of what you felt. Begin looking for the solutions to correct any problems that you recognized. Dr. Norm Shealy has developed his own system for healing. You can find out more about his work at his website.
