VITAMIN C-THE IMPORTANT NUTRIENT

COULD IT BE WHAT WE ARE MISSING?

Humans, monkeys and guinea pigs all need to receive vitamin C through their food consumption.

The nutritional recommendation for humans is 3-5 servings of fruits and vegetables per day, in order to receive enough vitamins into your body.

Foods that are primary food sources: Citrus fruits, rose hips, green peppers, broccoli, spinach, tomatoes.

NOW HOW MANY OF YOU ARE GETTING THIS?

We have H1N1 at pandemic level. This virus is a mutation of other viruses, which has become even stronger.

What if the missing factor is Ascorbic Acid?

Teenagers and the elderly have a greater deficiency of this vitamin than other age groups.

Vitamin C is needed to give lymphocytes enough vitality to effectively attack invading foreign bodies in the system. It also, has an antiviral effect. So, why is it you are not taking this vitamin to supplement your diet?

Tobacco use, Hormone use (ie. birth control pills) and Stress depletes the vitamin C in the body. If you aren’t stressed in society today, well you are rare!!!

Studies have shown that we can reduce triglycerides, cholesterol, atherosclerosis, colds, bruising, arthritis, some cancers, aging symptoms, and leg cramps during pregnancy just with Vitamin C. Also, this vitamin is important to maintain the structures in your back!!!

So, let’s talk about dosage and usage:

1000 mg in adults is a good maintenance dose. We are not encouraging mega-doses at all!!! This dosage can be increased if illness occurs but return to a maintenance dose when wellness returns. For children, 250mg-500mg per day, depending on body weight.

Always, take Vitamin C with food it is called Ascorbic Acid for a reason!!! A strong suggestion is to use a timed released vitamin to maintain the blood level. The body uses what it needs and disposes of the rest through the urine. If you have stomach sensitivity or have a tendency to be affected by acidic foods, try the buffered formula Ester C. If you do not use a timed released formula take divided doses throughout the day with meals.

There are occasions some persons will develop a loose stool, just reduce the amount you are taking until this is resolved.

Small children need smaller doses so consult your pediatrician or pharmacists for recommendations. Some multivitamins have enough in them. It certainly depends on the child.

If your diet does not include enough fruits and vegetables, I certainly would suggest considering supplementing with Vitamin C!!!
